Alan, you're so right....Brian looks exactly the same as he did when he was my weapon training instructor at The Depot circa 1963.

I agree Brian Aveyard hasnt changed a bit.  I wouldnt have recognised Jaz Jarmen if he was on my doorstep?  Funny jhow some of us change and others dont.

Forgot to mention,

Brian was our Squad Instructor for a Junior Leaders squad from Oswestry in early 1963 with Ron Southall, prior to our departure for Gort Barracks in Dusseldorf. A great team. 

I have always had the greatest respect for Brian and Ann. Brian I think one of the most honest, dedicated and likeable persons I ever met in the Regiment.

Great to see them both looking so well.

I was so sorry to be unable to attend  Ninians funeral but  did raise a glass at 1245 on the day and by the photo I can see he had a good  send off so from myself  I thank you for your attendance one and all .

Here, here Tony....Brian was the first non-shouting, cerebral Guardsman I ever met.  As a recruit, he set a standard for me that lasted a very long time.

Well said Dave, I totally agree, I set my stall as a very young Gdsm. By his style and his leadership, he, as an Instructor, set a lot of people like us on the right road. I only hope somehow he reads some of our comments and realises what great regard a lot of us have for him. Thank you Brian for being such a great guy.

I served under Brian when he was C.S.M.of the mighty No 3 Coy I found him to be most annoying and infuriating how he could make you feel such an utter moron without raising his voice i managed to work it out much later and came to the conclusion that he was a natural leader of men and an inspiration to us all

I served with Brian in 1br Corp Bielefeld he was a major with pioneer corp
