After a break of 50 years, two members of L/Sgt Pridham's first Guards Depot squad, met for lunch in a French restaurant whilst John and his wife Pat were on holiday. John Harding and David Woods joined the Depot in December 1962.

You're right, Wyndham, we always looked at the squad in front and thought "that'll be us one day". John and Pat were in fine form and on holiday.

I joined on 12th December '62, Wyndham, and was about-turned almost immediately and sent on 3 weeks leave.....bloody marvellous. Flew to Gort Barracks in May/June and was on the advance party back to Chelsea on 22nd November 1963....the day Kennedy was assassinated. The 2 weeks leave we should have gone on was immediately cancelled as it was thought the Russians were coming.

Looking good both of you David. had a reunion with John Harding . Big Harry H, 28 Jones at Mals pub in Menai Bridge in 2011. John looks well too. cheers guys. 15. [ lol, remember picking you guys up from Dusseldorf airport in a 3 tonner with Van Mopps as my passenger. ]

Blimey, 15. You've got a good memory. Your reunion in 2011 would have been worth attending, all 1 platoon guys, PoW, me thinks. Also remember Van Moppes, wasn't he the Adjutant? I arrived in Duss after the squad, kept behind at the Depot for athletics. Was picked up by Landy (or was it Champ) but don't remember the drivers name.
